Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The engine has been running for 60 seconds and the fuel pressure exceeds the warning trip point for fuel system protection.
System Response:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will log the event.
Engine operation is not affected.
Test Step 1. Check for Diagnostic Codes
- Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.
- Turn the keyswitch to the ON position (engine off).
- Check for active diagnostic codes or logged diagnostic codes.
Expected Result:
No other codes are active or logged.
Results:
- OK – No other codes are active or logged. A mechanical problem exists in the low pressure fuel system.
Repair: Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, “Fuel System Pressure – Test” for information that relates to testing the fuel system.
STOP
- Not OK – There are diagnostic codes that are active or logged.
Repair: Correct the other codes that are active or logged first. Refer to the appropriate topic in the “Troubleshooting With a Diagnostic Code” section of this manual. Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.
