Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The engine has been running for one minute and the coolant level is not being detected by the coolant level sensor.
System Response:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will log the event.
Engine operation is not affected.
Test Step 1. Check the Engine Coolant Level
- Check the coolant level of the engine. Refer toOperation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant Level – Check”.

Pressurized System: Hot coolant can cause serious burns. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure. |

Expected Result:
The coolant level is OK.
Results:
- OK – The coolant is at the appropriate level. There may be a problem with the coolant level sensor.
Repair: Test the operation of the coolant level sensor. Refer to Troubleshooting, “Coolant Level Sensor Circuit – Test”.
STOP
- Not OK – The coolant level is low.
Repair: Fill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant. Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.
