Remove & Install Flywheel

1. Fasten a hoist to Tool (A). Install Tool (A) to the flywheel.

2. Remove bolts (1) that hold the flywheel to the crankshaft. Remove flywheel (2). The weight is approximately 65 kg (145 lb).

3. Remove gear (3) from the flywheel if necessary.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the flywheel.

Gear (3) must be positioned on flywheel (2) so that the chamfer on the teeth of gear (3) will face toward the starter pinion after the flywheel has been installed.

4. Heat gear (3) to a maximum temperature of 315°C (600°F). Install gear (3) on flywheel (2).

5. Fasten a hoist and Tool (A) to flywheel (2), and put it in position on the dowel of the crankshaft.

6. Put clean engine oil on the threads of bolts (1) that hold the flywheel to the crankshaft and install the bolts.
