C7 Industrial Engines Water Pump Replacement

Replacement Procedure

You can replace CAT C7 Water Pump Start By:

1. Remove the alternator, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Alternator – Remove and Install”.

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant (ELC) – Change”.

2. Remove belt (7) . Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Belts – Inspect/Replace”.

3. Loosen hose clamps (3) .

4. Disconnect hose (2) .

5. Remove bolts (5) and elbow assembly (6) .

6. Remove bolts (4) .

7. Remove water pump (1) and the gasket.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the gasket and water pump (1) on the engine block. Install bolts (4) .

2. Position elbow assembly (6) . Install bolts (5) .

3. Connect hose (2) .

4. Tighten hose clamps (3) to a torque of 7.0 ± 0.5 N·m (62 ± 4 lb in).

5. Install belt (7) . Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Belts – Inspect/Replace”.

6. Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant (ELC) – Change” and Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Capacities (Refill)”.

End By: Install the alternator, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Alternator – Remove and Install”.
