C7 Industrial Engines Disassembly and Assembly – Alternator – Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the batteries.

 

  1. Place identification marks on all of the harness assemblies and disconnect the harness assemblies.

 

  1. Remove the belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Belts – Inspect/Replace”.

  1. Remove bolt (1), the washer, and the spacer.

 

  1. Remove bolts (5) and (7), washers (4) and (6), and nut (3) .

 

  1. Remove alternator (2) .

Installation Procedure

  1. If necessary, install the pulley on alternator (2). Install the nut and tighten the nut to a torque of 127 ± 10 N·m (94 ± 7 lb ft).

 

  1. Position alternator (2) on the alternator mounting bracket. Install bolt (1), the washer, and the spacer.

 

  1. Install bolts (5) and (7), washers (4) and (6), and nut (3) .

 

  1. Tightened bolts (1), (5), and (7) to a torque of 105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft)

 

  1. Install the belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Belts – Inspect/Replace”.

 

  1. Connect the harness assembly to alternator (2) and install the bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 4.4 ± 1.0 N·m (39 ± 9 lb in).

 

  1. Connect the harness assembly to alternator (2 ) and install the nut. Tighten the nut to a torque of 18 ± 2 N·m (13 ± 2 lb ft).

 

  1. Connect the batteries.
