Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The engine has been running for 60 seconds and the Electronic Control Module (ECM) has identified a restriction of the fuel filter.
System Response:
The ECM will log the event.
The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) will display “No Engine Speed” on the status screen.
The engine is shut down.
This event code indicates a restriction in the fuel filter.
Test Step 1. Replace the Fuel Filter
- Replace the engine’s fuel filter. Prime the fuel system.
Refer to the engine’s Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
- Start the engine. Use Cat ET to check for another occurrence of the event.
Expected Result:
The event does not recur.
Results:
- OK – STOP
- Not OK – The ECM is detecting an abnormal fuel pressure in the fuel system.
Repair: Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, “Fuel System Pressure – Test” for information that relates to testing the fuel system.
