Installation Procedure
Note: For information on reusability of components of the rocker shaft, refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts And Salvage Operations, SEBF8267, “Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts for 3114 and 3116 Engines”.
1.Install the pushrods in the engine. The base of the pushrod should be in the seat of the pushrod lifter. Install Tooling (A) .

2.Position rocker shaft (9) and support bracket (8) on the cylinder head. Install bolts (7) in the engine. Ensure that rocker arm adjustment screws (6) are loose. Line up the pushrods with the rocker arms.
3.Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 21 N·m (16 lb ft).
4.Remove Tooling (A) from the pushrods.

5.Position jumper tube (3) on the cylinder head. Use the following procedure to install jumper tube (3) :
Note: Ensure that the angle between bolts (5) and jumper tube (3) is 26 ± 3 degrees.
a.Position seat (10) on top of the unit injector.
b.Install jumper tube (3) into the manifold. Then install jumper tube (3) on the unit injector. Start nut (4) into the manifold and hand tighten nut (4). Tighten nut (4) until nut (4) is seated on fitting (11) .
c.Install bolts (5) evenly in the unit injector. Hand tighten bolts (5) .
Note: Ensure that the unit injector bottoms in the bore with the flange of jumper tube (3) parallel to the top surface of the unit injector.
d.Install clip (2), the washers, and bolt (1). Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).
e.Tighten nut (4) in the manifold to a torque of 40 ± 5 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft). Loosen nut (4). Tighten nut (4) in the manifold again to a torque of 40 ± 5 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft).
f.Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 3 ± 1 N·m (27 ± 9 lb in). Tighten bolts (5) again to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (44 ± 9 lb in).
g.Tighten bolt (1) again to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).
6.Adjust the valve lash. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, “Air Inlet and Exhaust Sytem” for the correct procedure.
7.Repeat the procedure for the remaining rocker shaft assemblies.
End By: Install the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Valve Mechanism Cover – Remove and Install”.
