Probable Causes
One of the following items may not be recorded correctly on the Caterpillar® Electronic Technician (ET):
- Passwords
- Serial numbers
- Total tattletale
- Reason code

Note: The procedures have been listed in order of probability. Complete the procedures in the order of the listed test steps.

Factory Password |
Result: Factory passwords were not accepted in Cat ET.
Repair: Check every character in each password and remove the electrical power from the engine for 30 seconds and then retry. Use Cat ET to verify that the following information has been entered correctly: Engine Serial Number, Serial Number for the Electrical Control Module, Serial Number for Cat ET, Total Tattletale, and Reason Code. |
