C3.3B Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage 3A Engines for Caterpillar Built Machines – Radiator and Hydraulic Oil Cooler – Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Release hydraulic system pressure.

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling prodecure.

  1. Open door assembly (1) .

  1. Disconnect strap (2) and gas strut (1a) not shown. Remove bolts (3). Use two people to remove grill assembly (4). The weight of grill assembly (3) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb). Remove bolts (5) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (6) and hose (7) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (8). If equipped, disconnect hose (9) .

  1. If equipped, disconnect hose (10). Remove clip (11) .

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (12) .

  1. Disconnect hoses (13) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (14) .

  1. Remove bolt (15) and nuts (16). Repeat this step for the opposite side.
