C3.3B Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage 3A Engines for Caterpillar Built Machines – NOx Reduction System (NRS) Temperature – Test

Use the following procedure in order to test the NRS system.

Proper location for obtaining NRS valve surface temperature

1. Check the coolant temperature and monitor the coolant temperature

2. Shut down the engine in order to cool down the engine, if the coolant temperature is already 55° C (131° F).

3. Start the engine and run the engine. Refer to Illustration 3 to reference the correct flow path for testing the NRS system.

4. After completing, allow the coolant temperature to reach 70° C (158° F)

5. If the coolant temperature is above 70° C (158° F). Refer to Illustration 5 to reference the correct flow path for testing the NRS system.
