Note: Apply engine oil to the threads of the cylinder head mounting bolts prior to assembly.
Note: Tighten the cylinder head mounting bolts in a numerical sequence to the proper torque.
Tightening torque | Cylinder head mounting bolts | C2.6 - 147 to 156 N·m (108 to 115 lb ft) C3.3B - 187 to 196 N·m (138 to 144 lb ft) |

Cylinder Head Gasket C2.6 |
- For C3.3B, make sure to note the notch (A), (B), or (C) of cylinder head gasket as shown in Illustration 4 in advance.
- For C2.6, make sure to note the holes (D), (E), or (F) of cylinder head gasket as shown in Illustration 5 in advance.
- Replace the same notch as the original cylinder head gasket.

- Select the cylinder head gasket thickness to meet with the top clearance when replacing the piston, piston pin bush, connecting rod or crankpin bearing.
- Measure the piston head protrusion or recessing from the crankcase cylinder face 4 spots per each piston and average of four pistons using a dial gauge.

Top Clearance of Cylinder Head
- Remove the cylinder head
Note: Ensure that the head gasket is completely removed.

- Bring the piston to its top dead center, fasten fuse wires (Diameter 1.5 mm (0.059 inch.), long 5.0 to 7.0 mm (0.20 to 0.28 inch) 3 to 4 spots on the piston top with grease to avoid the intake and exhaust valves and the combustion chamber ports.
- Bring the piston to its middle position, install the cylinder head, and tighten the cylinder head screws to specification.
Note: The head gasket must be changed to a new one.
- Turn the crank shaft until the piston exceeds its top dead center.
- Remove the cylinder head, and measure squeezed fuse wires for thickness.
