Start By:

  1. Release the hydraulic system pressure.

------ WARNING! ------

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.

Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.

Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.


------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (1). Remove pin (2). Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Repeat this procedure for the opposite side.

    Typical Example

  1. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to quick coupler (4). Use the suitable lifting device in order to raise lift arms (5). The weight of lift arms (5) and quick coupler (4) is approximately 737 kg (1625 lb).

  1. Position Tooling (C) under quick coupler (4) in order to support lift arms (5) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to lift cylinder (6). The weight of lift cylinder (6) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).

  1. Remove bolt (7). Remove pin assembly (8). If necessary, remove grease fitting (9) in order to install Tooling (D). Use Tooling (D) in order to remove pin assembly (8) .

  1. Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove lift cylinder (6) .

  1. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 for the opposite side.

Disassembly and Assembly

Note: Lubricate the seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(1) Use Tooling (F) to lubricate the bores.

(2) Torque for the piston is 805 ± 25 N·m (594 ± 18 lb ft).

(3) Use Tooling (J) in order to tighten the gland. Torque for the gland is 295 ± 15 N·m (218 ± 11 lb ft).

(4) Apply Tooling (H) to the threads of the set screw. The torque for the set screw is 23 ± 3 N·m (17 ± 2 lb ft).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install lift cylinder (6) in the reverse order of removal.
