The Cat Data Link enables all of the electronic control modules on the machine to communicate with each other. The Cat Data Link is bi-directional, allowing the ECMs to send information and receive information.
The Cat Data Link plus connection for the machine ECM is on contact J1-20 through wire 893-GN. The Cat Data Link minus connection for the machine ECM is on contact J1-28 through wire 892-BR.
Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) communicates with the ECM modules through the Cat Data Link.
The CAN data link is an input and an output of the ECM. The CAN data link is connected to the ECM at contacts, J2-23 and J2-31. The data link is designed to communicate with other electronic control modules through the machine harness.
