Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, “Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog” for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Use Tooling (A) to remove fuel filter (2) from fuel filter base (1) .
- Disconnect tube assembly (3) and hose assembly (5) from fuel filter base (1) . Immediately cap all openings or plug all openings in order to prevent contamination.
- Disconnect fuel sensor (4) from fuel filter base (1) .
- Remove bolts (7) and the washers from fuel filter base (1) . Remove fuel filter base (1) from bracket (6) .
Installation Procedure
- Position fuel filter base (1) on bracket (6) . Install bolts (7) and the washers.
- Connect hose assembly (5) and tube assembly (3) to fuel filter base (1) .
- Connect fuel sensor (4) to fuel filter base (1) .
- Install fuel filter (2) to fuel filter base (1) . Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Fuel System Secondary Filter – Replace” for more information.
- Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Fuel System – Prime” for more information.
