A force (F) of 525 to 695 N (118 to 156 lb) must be necessary to engage the clutch. The force must be at 90 degrees to the clutch lever and 340 mm (13.4 in) from the center of the lever shaft.

Torque the bolt that holds the clutch lever on the shaft to … 100 N·m (75 lb ft)

(1) Torque for hub nut … 40 N·m (30 lb ft) + 120 to 150 degrees

(2) Torque for bolt that holds the lock in place … 26 N·m (21 lb ft)

(3) End clearance for shaft … 0.10 to 0.18 mm (.004 to .007 in)

(4) Thickness of clutch plate (new) … 11.00 to 11.25 mm (.433 to .443 in)

(5) Torque for two bolts that hold the yoke to the shaft … 51 N·m (38 lb ft)

(6) Torque for two bolts that hold the collar assembly together … 40 N·m (30 lb ft)

NOTE: After clutch has been installed on engine, hit output shaft sharply on the end to relieve any preload that may result due to resistance of pilot bearing being pressed into the flywheel.

(1) Bearing Adjustment:

Tighten bearing retainer until there is no clearance between cup and cone. Back off retainer 1 or 2 notches and assemble lock. Strike output end of shaft to seat the inner bearing cup against the bearing retainer. Endplay must be … 0.10 to 0.18 mm (.004 to .007 in)

Clutch Engagement Check (On Engine):

A torque of 146 to 192 N·m (134 to 142 lb ft) on the splined clutch lever shaft is required to engage the clutch.

NOTE: After clutch has been installed on engine, hit output shaft sharply on the end to relieve any preload that may result due to resistance of pilot bearing being pressed into the flywheel.

(1) Bearing Adjustment:
